2. Scheduling & Project Preparation

Once you’re ready to move forward, we’ll schedule the installation and confirm the project details in advance.

We’ll explain how to prepare the garage before installation, including what needs to be moved so our crew can access the full slab, perimeter, corners, and areas normally covered by freestanding storage or equipment.

You’ll know what to expect before installation day arrives, helping the project stay organized and on schedule.

3. Installation

This Is Where the Garage Floor Transformation Happens

Once installation begins, our crew handles each stage of the coating system – from preparing the concrete to applying the final protective topcoat.
Each step has a specific purpose, and the quality of the finished floor depends on how well those steps work together.

Preparing the Concrete

Proper adhesion begins with the surface underneath the coating.

We mechanically diamond-grind the concrete to remove weak surface material, residue, and other conditions that could interfere with adhesion. Grinding also creates the concrete profile needed for the basecoat to establish a strong bond.

Professional dust-control equipment is used during this stage to help manage the concrete dust created during preparation.

This is work homeowners won’t see after the project is complete, but it is one of the most important parts of the entire installation.

Addressing Cosmetic Repairs

Once the slab has been prepared, appropriate cosmetic surface repairs can be addressed.

Hairline cracks, minor pitting, worn areas, and similar surface imperfections may need attention before the coating system is installed.

Cosmetic repair is different from structural concrete movement. A coating system cannot permanently stop an actively moving slab, so if we see something that requires additional evaluation, we’ll explain it before moving forward.

Applying the Epoxy Basecoat

After preparation is complete, the epoxy basecoat is applied to the properly profiled concrete.

This layer creates the foundation of the garage floor system and establishes the bond between the slab and the layers that follow.

The epoxy basecoat and polyaspartic topcoat perform different jobs within the system. The epoxy provides the foundation, while the topcoat protects the finished surface.

Broadcasting the Decorative Flake

When the basecoat is ready to receive it, decorative flake is broadcast across the floor.

The flake creates the color, texture, and finished appearance of the garage floor while giving homeowners flexibility to choose a look that complements the rest of their space.

Consistent coverage helps create a clean, professional finish across the entire garage.

Applying the Protective Polyaspartic Topcoat

The decorative surface is then protected with a polyaspartic topcoat.

This becomes the exposed wear surface of the finished garage floor and helps protect the system against the everyday conditions garages experience – including vehicle traffic, dirt, moisture, routine spills, and abrasion.

Together, the epoxy basecoat, decorative flake, and polyaspartic topcoat create the complete coating system.

Cure Time & Returning the Garage to Use

Once installation is complete, the coating system needs adequate time to cure before the garage returns to normal use.

Most residential projects are completed within a few days, but timing can vary depending on the condition of the concrete, preparation requirements, the coating system, and project conditions.

Foot traffic, stored belongings, and vehicles may also have different return-to-use timelines.

We’ll provide clear instructions for your specific installation so you know when it’s safe to begin using your garage again.
